“Dear starshine, are you still not ready?” Rhodri’s voice was both accusing and resigned, a skill that he has mastered over our nineteen years of life. I glanced at him from my position on the sofa and gave him a slow, easy smile.
“Ah, good morning, brother.”
Rhodri frowned at my attire, or rather, my lack of it, and started towards my closet. “We have a council meeting in half an hour; you should have been dressed and ready ages ago.”
“Time slipped away,” I said tiredly, taking a sip from my glass. Rhodri shot me an unamused look as he came back over, a doublet, pants, and several underthings in his hands. His eyes landed on the drink, and he scowled.
“Seriously, Dacre? Whiskey? At seven in the morning?” He dropped the clothes in my lap and took the drink, setting it back on the drink tray and waving a servant to remove it all.
I got up and shot him a glare as I started to unbutton my dressing robe. “The council doesn't want to see me. They want to see the heir, which is you.”
Rhodri cocked an eyebrow, another talent of his. “We’re twins, Dacre. We’re both heirs.”
“Yes, but you’re the favorite,” I said, not unkindly.
