hands down one of the most beautiful books ive ever read and also the scale of it is so distressing. because it takes place over the course of decades, everyone grows up and then dies. no one is lastingly happy nor do they make any real change, they all just live with all its ups and downs and then they pass.

am i stupid or smth? why does everyone keep calling Cathy/Kate the pure embodiment of evil?
like i jsut read it as that she's like medically a psychopath and thus couldn't be brainwashed with what a woman is supposed to value. like she doesnt kill people for fun, she does it sort of only when she has to. yeah she shot Adam and left the kids but she never wanted to go to cali, she told him that day 1.
