My SO told me our cat dying was the first time he’d experienced death so closely and I swear I short circuited with grief. How is it possible that I was leaving school in a hurry at 17 to go feed my grandma dying of cancer, had my favorite person die at age 9 and made to look at him, dead, in an open casket, when I couldn't even comprehend what it meant to die and our CAT is the first time you're going through it???
