poor Lily 😔😔 ugh i feel for her. fucking teenagers are so cruel (is she even a teenager?? surely she is) life as a teenager is chaotic enough and then you're also surrounded by other teens

this book was very clearly not written with me as the intended audience. maybe that much should have been obvious, but it's definitely obvious now

I usually find all of her books high up on an odd and philosophical scale… and I really don’t know how to rate them.

I've only read Babel (and a short story but I barely count that one) and this one is very different. I feel like Babel had such an obvious story compared to this. This is more like.. blog posts. Mundane vignettes. But mundane is not necessarily a bad thing? It's not NOT enjoyable, but it's just... where's the story? The conflict? Does it need a story or conflict to be good? I'm confused 😂
same reaction, but I dnfed at 30% or smth, beacuse I was like I'm fine and there was nothing happening to keep me going, I need something like where are we going, there is no conflict at all 😮💨😂

There's still no conflict in terms of a story arc with a setup, conflict and resolution or whatever, but I feel like at least something real is happening now... instead of the big drama being that she doesn't know the word for passionfruit or whatever
