Am I supposed to be awed by a stadium *two stories* tall? Is this a typo?

That's...not what a pavilion is. Like, words have meanings? Maybe if you're going to use a word to mean something else, choose a different word???

I'm not the most critical little muffin when I'm reading, but even I am like "what the fuck?" at this plan to go through the Meridian Pass, a place seemingly designed for ambushes, in order to avoid...being ambushed while in a larger crowd? Does the author not understand why travellers used to group themselves together in caravans?

'This was the closest we had been without someone actively bleeding.'

The writing in this isn't *bad*, per se, but it's certainly not good.
