I really like Ippolit Kirrilovitch's speech about people in Russian society being numb to injustices committed by people who were seemingly well-adjusted. I may have well believed in Dimitri's guilt, were I in the court with him.

Katerina has lost her halo & Ivan's testimony has been very amusing and more credible in my view, despite his delirium because of what I as the reader know beforehand

I tend to agree with Doctor Varvinsky's reasoning as to why Dimitri would look straight ahead at the judges. Herzensteube's point about looking at the ladies was silly. If you're being charged with murder—especially with Dimitri being that "new man" that he spoke Alyosha about, that's not ridden with lust—you're really only going to care about what matters in that courtroom

I didn't know fashion trends changed as quickly in the 19th century as they do in modern times

It's disturbing the way Lise speaks in this last section. I'm liking the new Dimitri though
