As with The Road, I’m again warming up to McCarthy’s prose style (read aloud, in the audiobook, not reading directly off the page!!!). It’s kind of satisfying in its gritty yet poetic feel.
Judge has killed another kid, and that’s particularly bad despite the previous day the entire gang massacred the native village savagely? Probably implicit that he raped him too tho…

The story picks up with the focus on the judge. Him and his buddy in Europe, learning customs & languages makes him interesting. He’s like a bizarre super intelligent demon, also HE killed that boy? I didn’t clock that while walking in the rain, listening to the audiobook, lol
