the playfulness fran ross has for language is so refreshing (also tedious at times but whatever). a reminder that words aren't just there to move from one plot point to another. it's like when i first watched IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and thought, wow we really do not appreciate color photography enough because look at how wong kar-wai so clearly pays attention to it in this movie.
