Apparently, Elif Batuman's The Idiot was an inspiration for this book and I can't stop comparing them. Why is Selin so much more interesting/fun than the main character here? Is it the writing or is it because The Idiot is set in the 90s and social media and Google on your phone and wasn't a thing yet?
