These kids are getting up to every conceivable mischief. I get the fear Gabriel has to show any interest in his Rwandan identity although I believe his father is actually not the one he should fear reprisal from. I liked chapter 23, where Gaby discovers reading. I think this is the only part of this book that I enjoyed. I was on tenterhooks the whole time because of the language and the nature of the company this child kept. I disliked everything about what was happening and the parts about the political climate just add to the discomfort.

I forgot about this book for a while but now it's time to put it to bed. I'm not sure what I will read, still, when it is done as I'm not in the mood to continue the other current reads on my list.
