In P41, there was a whole scene about a dog. YH was 9, and bitten by a dog, Father punished it. That evening, her father hosted a feast serving the dog meat. Following a superstition that eating the animal that bit you will heal the wound, Father forced YH to eat dog-meat soup. YH feels as though the "butchered bodies" of the animals she has consumed are permanently lodged inside her chest.

When Father managed to get food into her mouth, she spit the food out, ran to the kitchen, and slit her wrist. The mother fainted, and this entire scene unfolded in front of the children too.
