Dangit I’m invested. So glad I pushed through the beginning because the magic system is cool and I’m intrigued by the plot. The little gang of misfits has grown on me too although I still feel like one of them is missing a bit of depth. Interested to see how this ends.

Ch 18. The opening chapters nearly put me off, initial tone felt very YA in an unappealing way with irrelevant side characters chatting about badgers. Lots of tell don’t show for the Briar/Seb friendship backstory. Main cast was introduced in a way that made many forgettable. I can only really remember Briar, Seb, Watson and vaguely the guy who got shot. But the story is really picking up now so I’ll read more
