I've been trying to figure out what weirds me out about Palmini's acting in this book, and I finally figured it out. It sounds... a lot like... as if William... Shatner... were narrating...

Someone didn't watch The Queen's Gambit, apparently. Even I know (now) that that's not how you determine who's white in chess.

You know, Rina Kent MM and especially Kiss the Villain will always hold a special place in my heart, but in some ways this book is reminding me of Kiss the Villain if Rina Kent were actually a skilled writer.
