Like all of a sudden bc he takes care of her (like a pet) after she gives herself heat stroke bc of his neglectful/ignorant attitude, they love each other now? Fuck off. 2 stars bc I don’t see this getting better, it’d have potential if she had any sort of backbone (which she does not, and never grows one bc if she did she’d leave his sorry ass). But the prose was good.

I’ve made it about halfway through Ch.11 and think I’m gonna stop. I’m listening at 1.8x bc it’s boring and I don’t like the romance at all, if you can call it that. When he’s not infantilizing her, he’s treating her like a brood mare. Idc about the demons either they can kill everyone except Ophele & Miche, who run away together bc they actually respect each other.

Unsure if I’ll DNF bc of the romance/power imbalance. The wedding vows alone were giving Patriarchy (ew) and all he wants is to get her barefoot & pregnant (ew). Well maybe not barefoot but they ARE homeless bc he hasn’t established his duchy yet and oml this is prob not gonna be my cup of tea after all. He’s lowk a bum w a side of asshole.

Just finished chapter 3. Not liking the FMC/MMC dynamic. The writing/world-building is good but he just married a literal child and that wedding night was very descriptive. Maybe it’s the voice the narrator gives her, maybe it’s the fact that she has no backbone.. I feel kinda icky and I didn’t think I was that bothered by age gaps.
