I really like this book, but oof! There are a lot of parts to it that are sadder and darker than I was bargaining for when I first picked it up. I am assured from the reviews that the ending will be heartwarming, at least, but I wasn’t expecting so much drama

At this point, I’m hooked : )
This book is definitely unique and so are the characters. I just got to the part where the curmudgeonly (but very funny) Veronica arrives at the penguin 🐧 research station, determined to show that she can handle the climate and rough conditions, despite her age and lack of field experience. Even though she’s cranky and bossy, it’s hard to not want to root for her!

Okay, I’m hooked so far! The characters are definitely kooky and I don’t know where the story is headed, but I want to keep reading and find out!
