Running out of time (and patience) but the sunk cost fallacy is real with a 16 hour audiobook.

Why do I always do this to myself? Reading two too similar books at the same time. I just finished the other one, but still this creates an extra layer of difficulty keeping the storylines straight (heh) in my head.

Both these stories have, just to name a few:
- Trans MC(s)
- MC(s) haunted by "shadow people"
- Witches
- Medicinal teas
- Found family living together in a cramped place

Feeling this could be trimmed, condensed, etc. Doesn't really feel like a book that needs to be 432 pages long.

Kassu I listened to another 20 minutes and was despairing. Then I checked the situation of the physical copies and they are now in circulation in our library. It's most likely going to be under a month for me to get it. So that's what I am doing. If at that point I don't want to continue anymore, then I won't. This book is not good enough to just lay down and listen to it. I already stretched and did some TRE and I'm going stir crazy.

Noah I loved the first book, but now I'm a bit worried lmao :)

Clau MZ I guess the issues I had with the writing in book 1 are still present here ?

Kassu Yeah, I had mixed feeling with book 1 and this one unfortunately doesn't do many things better. There's repetition, everyone still keeping secerets from everyone (that's the point of the plot, I guess, but still very frustrating). Again there's a mystery that no one actually investigates.

Yes, there are still those good moments too, but I'm feeling they're less and less "worth it". Especially since there's also repetition in them.

I will probably still recommend this to people who did, infact, love the first book. And will see if the ending shifts something.

Eve I'm more and more happy that I passed on the buddy read. (I would have been soooo frustrated) 😅
