The end of the book makes me feel like that bit on chess earlier. How "a person who see's one more move ahead...". But, it is open ended. Much like Tristen seems to feel a bit dazed from all of his experiences. I also feel like my review won't nearly do this book justice, but I will try. After all--it is the lords will.

Life Extension. A very interesting concept. Especially, since this is the first time in human history that the average person has enjoyed a longer then average life. (In Europe and European Colonies.) Somehow, I feel that B.V. Larson has been inspired by L.E.. If someone ever finds that, please link the interview, so I can incorporate it into my review.

Normally, I would complain about the lack of AI is a book like this, but honestly the author has done so well with painting various pictures. Ex: Work Life, Family Life, Social Life, and a feel for interstellar war. If anything it showcases many examples of why AI would be useful, but just didn't need to be part of the story. Considering this was published in the 90s and is quite good for its time. Like a Mustang.

I really enjoyed Tristan's return home. You could almost taste the mahogany hair. The inconsistent perfection, perhaps a smoothness and a distinct smell. This is the level of feel oozing from the character development.

Overall Tristen Desoul feels kind of like Takashi Kovach from Altered Carbon. However, Tristen feels experienced, yet less confident of how his surroundings work ever since the bunker was breached due to a failed shield. I feel like this is the start point to where we get to know this world and Tristen. I think I'll reread The Ethos Effect in 2019, which to my memory is loosely associated with this book.

Still getting a feel for the setting. From what I gather they are on some frontier planet and there is a civil war between humanity + faith and humanity + cyborgs.
I'm not liking the paragliders. They are probably like paragliders which would be easily shot down making this a very strange conflict. Also, the bunkers have their own atmosphere, so it's strange that a military would choose to cheap out on sensors.

"Plast-crete" It seems to me that B.V. Larson borrowed "Puff-crete" from reading some L.E. Modesett. The only other time I remember hearing about "Revs" was the crazy bloodthirsty people in Firefly, or its movie Serenity. This people reading seems too implausible, should tone it back to Altered Carbon levels.
