I really do not like the stockholm syndrome trope. Not at all.

Well there's not a lot of grey area with these characters. A bit with the hero but that's about it. Everyone else is either all good or all bad.

In fairness to the author, the bad are impressively nasty people and the torment they heap on their enemies is prodigious.

I kinda feel like I got whiplash from how quickly the relationship went from "I don't trust anyone but especially not you" to "girl gotta have it."
