Szymborska's poems are short and yet, they take a lot of time to read, process and internalise. Every word counts.

This is my first intimate encounter with Wisława Szymborska's work. Her poems enthrall me. They are full of symbols and references to the antic world and written in beautiful language. It is hard to move on from one poem to the next, as I always have the feeling of having not fully understood, of having overlooked something essential.
