So many strange moments. Why did Tidal go find River, why not go get the tubes with Logan, or better yet, since she has a class and they are older, have them help her search. Also WTF is Tidal doing at the waterfront by herself? If you have to have someone else with you to go in the water then WHY is she the ONLY staff member there??
Also, I am getting tired of being in this girl's head, SO much negativity

Ok, she is attending a community school in San Jose, what community college has a softball team?
Also, just remembered that she was a full fledged counselor at the age of 16 and there were 17 y/o at camp. That is another piece that shows this author has never been to camp. That would never happen, plus 16 should be either, support counselors, JC's, or have campers who are at least 2 years younger.

"This camp job did not pay much but it was enough to cover first semester tuition and books"
Uh, I don't think so, unless she is at community college, has some other money like a grant or scholarship, or the camp is the most pricy camp ever.
No camp can pay a counselor enough for one semester of tuition AND books

So again this author shows she has no idea how camps work: 1, one camper one counselor is generally a no no, so Bren should not be watch the girl by herself. 2, adding to the above, there are ALSO at least 2 counselors for support and safety reasons. 3, Bren goes swimming in the morning one time, she is clearly alone, after stating earlier in the book that no one is allowed in the lake by themselves.

Not sure this author has ever dealt w/ horses or camp. One, ponies can handle a bit of weight, especially the stout ones. How heavy is this girl exactly? She play softball on a team, so she can't exactly be massive.
Two: camps should have more than just ponies, for this reason and for reason of height. Your height is more of a problem on a pony than weight. Plus tiny ponies are a menace, horses are chiller

I already have two problems w/ this story:
She says she was a camper for 4 years & staff for 1, so starting her 6th, fine. but then she tells someone that the stage that burnt down did so "2 years ago, before I started here". So, how long has she been here?
The camp director is described as being 5.5, which is average for a female and 90lbs, but not a stick but having an hourglass. That is not a possible combination
