Pacing is somewhat slow, but plot is still engrossing. To be honest, the prior books in the series were better.

To be honest, while I liked previous books in this serious more, my opinion of the novel has improved as I’ve progressed. In the beginning I felt trepidation over continuing and considered switching books (I’m a fan of fast-paced beginnings), but I now notice that this book paced itself fairly well even after a somewhat slow start. So far it’s a 4/5 I would say!

The theme of historical reference is one I find interesting, Brown’s constant alluding to free masonry and historical events add an underlying note that grounds the book in a way that uplifts how the plot is being written.

The theme of historical reference is something I’m finding interesting, the way Brown embeds true history throughout his fictional elements grounds the book and adds a realistic element that helps raise the standards of the novel, especially when concerning the constant topic of free masonry.

It’s somewhat dull compared to previous books in the serious, although it’s definitely not terrible.
