I WAS sort of digging this book....but of course, there always has to be some silly FAR too invested in her appearance and FAR too thirsty woman for the male lead to compare to the demure JUST FEMININE ENOUGH main character. I swear romance novels are like a live-action performance of women working out their internal madonna-whore conflict

Sex scenes are okay. Nothing spectacular. It's weird that this is a bear shifter romance, because no bear magic happens. Just a contemporary romance where every once in a while, Lee reminds us he could turn into a bear if he wanted to

Booktube needs to get ready for the most petty shit it's ever seen. Coming soon: a 30 minute video 'a defense of Harriet'-that woman is getting shit on for nothing

I find it really interesting that mainstream feminist discourse be like "No slut-shaming. Be promiscuous! Yay hook-up culture!" then you dip into the romance genre, which is pure female wish fulfillment, and you see how women actually feel about slutty behavior.

I’m still just so damn delighted that bear shifter romance is a thing. Holy shit. I love weird sub genres.
This book is just trope soup: bear shifter, single dad, curvy woman romance. Is this woman letting a drunk hamster pick her tropes by falling out of hat with scraps of paper in it?

Jyvur Entropy "those vulture mothers"......yes, how disgusting, women who know what they want and go after it. Women with sex drive. Fucking gross.
WHY is this such a common thing in romance? Do women need to denigrate sexually-assertive women in order to get off? really what the fuck

Jyvur Entropy I do not feel bad for the "family farms" that Harriette is trying to buy out to put up "cheap condos." Most farms are useless. That's why the U.S goverment subsidizes corn. If the gov didn't literally PAY farms to grow corn, there probably wouldn't be many farms. If the farm can not make enough money to sustain itself, then it has no right to exist. I truly don't understand why this book frames Harriet as the bad guy. She can't FORCE the farms to sell to her. A sale of property is an agreement on both sides. If the farmers agree to sell, obviously they are struggling. Anti-capitalist sentiments in books is so damn stupid. A business has no right to exist if it can not turn a profit.

Jyvur Entropy So the madonna main character "gave every indication of attraction to him, but offered no hint of pursuit." Oh lovely, let's put women who DON'T pursue men up on a pedestal. How utterly unladylike. but don't worry, I'll bet this author shoehorns feminism into the book at some point (the book has already done everything else that annoys the fuck out of me) so when we hear what a bad bitch independent woman Patricia is then it will REALLY make sense how sexually-assertive women are demonized and demure little flowers are idealized as the pure and desirable "good women." The archetypes in this book really got me all fucked up.
