Reading Chapter 2 of the book, makes me wonder if it was President Obama instead of Reagan, would things have been better? Would the UN's commitment to impartiality be upheld?

"Jamieson urged him to be sure to distinguish the interests of the UN, his place of employment, from the interests of refugees, his reason for working"
and
"Sergio, you've got to cool it, It is natural that you don't want to wait until jobs are offered to you, but you are starting to get a reputation for being one who spends his time plotting his next move.
