Ahahaha, past me saying I would never start a Malazan re-read with Midnight Tides. Technically, I'm not, I read all the prequels and GotM, but instead of Deadhouse Gates, I'm going to Letheras now. Cos chronological order and all that.

I know Trull Sengar is right and he's the only Tiste Edur with a functional moral compass, but OH MY GOD HE IS ANNOYING. Bitching and bitching in every scene (but still going along with the killing) and achieving absolutely nothing with it. Here's a thought for you naysayer... how about you talk to that brother of yours you always looked down on, hmm?

Unpopular opinion: Trull Sengar is a complete bastard to his little brother, constantly disdaining him and treating him with contempt and suspicion, always viewing him as a coward and a traitor and unworthy in every way. We're in Trull's PoV all the time and see only his tainted view of his brother. Is what happens later such a wonder?

Major respect points lost for one of the series' most appreciated characters.

I'm unspeakably annoyed by every Udinaas and every Feather Witch scene in this book so far. For the first it's nothing but visions after visions of whatever the hell (even if I know what/who is in the visions, it's still bad to abuse this plot device so much).

And Feather Bitch needs a knife across the throat. Preferably until it reaches her spine.

The first part of that prologue... Scara, you absolute shit! Especially in light of the Karkanas books.
