Prime Minister Spencer Perceval is killed by John Bellingham in 1812; some believe changing the target from King to PM was the shift of power from the monarch to parliament (p. 120). Attempts of killing Queen Victoria, motives were unclear, leading to conclude insane people, unconscious beings, etc (pp. 122-125). The M’Naghten Rules provide some answers to determine what to do with those cases involving insane people (pp. 130-131). Assassination was a guilty act, whatever the state of mind of the assassin (p. 134). The assassination of President James Garfield by Charles Julius Guiteau (pp. 140-141). Attempts to kill Guiteau (p. 144). During the trial, Guiteau acted as a mad person, he played to the gallery (pp. 145-146). People analyzed in the chapter were troubled by persecution mania, aka paranoia (p. 152). Guiteau was executed the 30th June 1882 (p. 153). The skull of Guiteau was in exhibition until someone stole it (p. 155).
