I’ve rediscovered that I’ve been living too much in Rational Mind and avoiding my emotions. Emotion Mind comes quick when I allow myself to be emotional. Neither states of mind are very healthy to be in all the time and I need to relearn how to find the middle path to achieve Wise Mind. Wise Mind allows us to take a step back from straight emotion/reason to observe our feelings/thoughts and make better decisions.

I've read this book many times, and I take away new things each time I read it. This time, I've realized that I struggle with many of the "How Skills" and that I've been living in some of the ineffective habits of Emotion Mind--specifically, "I'd rather be right than effective," blaming myself, self-invalidation, and perfectionism. Chapter 10, Letting Go of Suffering Through Acceptance, has also been very helpful.
