I’m really trying not to victim blame Laura because it’s apparent that Ethan has been emotionally abusing her, but the way she falls for his BS all the time is rage inducing. There is no sob story in the world that would make me forgive a man who laid hands on my child. GTFO of my house.

Ethan has a convenient explanation for everything, no matter how weird his behavior may seem. Christy’s friends support her concerns but her mother refuses to take her seriously. She’s been set up as a whiney brat angry that Ethan took over her room, rather than the fairly mature, intelligent girl she is. I know from the blurb Ethan is going to attack her, but I’m wondering if there’s a twist coming.

Ethan isn’t even trying to hide his suspish behavior - staring at Christy & calling her ‘special,’ (bro, she’s 16 & you’re in your 30s. That’s fricken gross.) & bringing out a OUIJA board. Dude’s in the seminary, why would someone studying to be a minister be touching one of those? Especially in the early 90s with the whole Satanic Panic thing. I know no one will listen to Christy’s suspicions.
