This is quite...flat. I wanted to love this; was prepared to. But I may not finish. There's no poetry, no depth, excitement, or suspense. Ya, we all know the story, but such tales have been retold with all of the above (Zel (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...), and Alys (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1..., for example). I dunno. Feeling very 'bleh' about it.

This is quite...flat, I guess, is the term I'm looking for. I wanted to love this. Was prepared to do so. But I'm thinking I may not finish. There's no poetry in the prose, no depth to the characterizations, no excitement or suspense. Granted, we all know the story, but such tales have been retold with all of the above (Zel, or Alys, for example). Eh. I dunno. Feeling very 'bleh' about it.
