this isn't making much sense. They're punishing her for something so minor that it doesn't make sense. Plus, they didn't tell her to begin with "here are the rules, here are the expectations, any defiance will be punished." so the scene ultimately makes no sense. Plus I can't see that the way they are going about it would achieve any positive results anyway. No effort at all at reward and punishment. Hmmm...
