Not as good as Don't Bite the Sun, but still a pretty good book.

So, Esten is Hatta and the MC is pregnant with his baby.
Apparently, in the domed cities the food has contraceptives in it that prevents the Jang from reproducing naturally, hence why they use technology and womb tanks. However, the MC eating the natural food from her farming has altered her body to allow her to gestate. Her and Esten/Hatta procreated naturally.

Lee, you're fucking brilliant, you madwoman!

So the MC, who is still female/femme, had sex with Esten who is in the MC's old male/masc body.

Strange, but beautifully written scene: "But my brain, submerged, overwhelmed by my flesh, remembered and, remembering, conjured him from itself till we seemed one thing, indivisible."

And now there's a robotic dragon.

While I know Lee is known for her colorful descriptions and such, the way she describes her characters' feelings of being alone just feels so genuine.
"A sort of happy sadness enveloped me. So beautiful, the dawn, and hope like oxygen bright in the air, and I alone."

So the robots who control everything have sent people on ships that were intended to crash or fail. Oh man, the utopia blindfold is really coming off here.
Also, we finally have a side f/f couple :D

Don't tell me Danor and Kam abandoned the MC.

You can tell that this book and the previous one were written in the 70s. The way the Jang's hair and fashion is described.

Ever since the MC left Four BEE the city's had its own little upheaval, of sorts. Their friend group broke apart, but Four BEE's utopic visage is ebbing away. People also want to leave the domed cities!

Danor came to visit the MC? Hmm...Is she there covertly?
