Chapter 3 touches the Japanese experience at the island. I find it interesting how similar the Chinese experience differed so widely from the Japanese… mainly due to Japan winning the Sino-Russian war and gaining political cache with Western powers

There were snippets as kids where we heard my mom’s family having 2 family names.
