Could we normalize male characters in books NOT putting their hands under a woman's chin to move it up!?

How is it romantic to tell a woman that you've always loved her and every other woman was a placeholder?

If you loved her, why didn't you tell her? If you loved her, why didn't you save your love for her? How is it kind to any other woman that you dated them with no intention?

He's been in love with the heroine for years. But he's been sleeping around. Boo. I hate that the author includes this. He's been such an amazing hero otherwise.

I guess it's good that it's been since before she got engaged since that's when he finally realized what he had to regret.
