Wanting to help people who aren't asking for help (but seriously need it) is one of those things that only hurts you in the end. A lesson only learned by getting burned.

My mother used to say, "Never stay with someone out of pity. If pity is the only reason you haven't left the relationship, you'll end up miserable and hating yourself."
That is exactly the trap Jonny has fallen into with Mark.

One of those stories with strikingly realistic depictions of relationships, with the good, the bad and the ugly.
We haven't got inside Mark's head yet, but it's really sad how his "manic pixie" persona is all a front for how little control he has, of how lonely he's become. It's so hollow, and so painful to watch.
