"Together the chimpanzees and the baboons and monkeys, the birds and insects, the teeming life of the vibrant forest, the stirrings of the never still waters of the great lake, and the uncountable stars and planets of the solar system formed one whole." I liked this quote because it brings together the idea that we are more similar than we think and that all life forms are part of our world.

"Surely, I thought, if chimpanzees can control their aggressive tendencies, and diffuse the situation when things get out of hand, so can we. And herein, perhaps, was the hope for our future: we really do have the ability to override our genetic heritage." I liked how the author was able to use her research on chimpanzees to make so many discoveries about humans and our nature.
