"Together the chimpanzees and the baboons and monkeys, the birds and insects, the teeming life of the vibrant forest, the stirrings of the never still waters of the great lake, and the uncountable stars and planets of the solar system formed one whole." I liked this quote because it brings together the idea that we are more similar than we think and that all life forms are part of our world.

"If only we can overcome cruelty, to human and animal, with love and compassion we shall stand at the threshold of a new era in human moral and spiritual evolution--and realize, at last, our most unique quality: humanity." This chapter of the book really spoke to me as I red in horror about all the horrific things that happen to animals in captivity and it made me wish that I could do something to help.
