This fourth story, ‘The Coldest Place on Earth’ is poignant to me. It feels like it could be my hubby and I. It’s not, but it could be… very unnerving…

With a number of small intriguing stories in the middle (many of which I quite enjoyed). This collection ends with a longer story (about 100 pages) about a woman who becomes a cloud and yet tries to resolve her marriage issues with her husband and two middle grade aged girls. So far, it’s odd.
I can’t help but find myself thinking back to 6 stories ago, Mother. What a punch that story had for being so short.

There’s nothing super Canadian about these stories (maybe city names and cold); yet they are Canadian in their context and overall feel. Very good representation of common Canadian behaviour and attitudes.
Girl on the Metro struck me as I used to take transit daily and so many people would leave distressed folks be. So unCanadian on one hand not to help, and yet passively Canadian at the same time. Makes me sad.

First three stories were alright. Each very much its own telling.
This is a Canadian author and publisher; so it’s nice to read Canadian spellings of words (ie: colour).
