standing in the middle of my kitchen staring at the ceiling with earphones in waiting for edward to say "your number was up the first time i met you" in the same way that i wait for the beat in my favourite song to drop

"i imagined it would feel the same to press ice to an aching burn. an abrupt cessation of pain." so, um. i've read through this plot maybe a dozen times in total and i never really paid attention to how intense that little moment actually is. now i'm obsessed with it.

"I knew I had a great capacity for ruining even the best moments
with my wretched doubts and endless overthinking" oh baby, we know. we appreciate the self-awareness, but there's no need to specifically point it out, because we really KNOW.

it took edward ONE real date to make a mental note that he's gonna learn to cook for his girlfriend. and that, my friends, is why my standards are so unattainable

the cullens' group discussion after the van accident is an emotional rollercoaster, comedy gold, dialogue writing goals, and in the top 3 best moments in the entire saga. it might even be in the top 3 book scenes i have read in my life so far. change my mind.

i'm mesmerized and haunted and my heart is warm and the vibes are unparalleled. will i ever find another story that will make me feel this way? because it's been 12 years and i still haven't.

i will never ever stop marveling at the way stephenie meyer managed to write a borderline instalove and made it feel like a bittersweet slow burn. so many people complain about how slow and heavy the first half of midnight sun is but i'm mesmerized. give me vampire teen emo turmoil any day, this is BALM to my soul.
