I don't think I've officially noted this on a progress update here, so I'll do it now. Cover art for The Shadow Club Rising is by the great Cliff Nielsen. He's done some incredible cover art in his career. Incredible in terms of quality, variety, and sheer amount.

Very nice, a reference to Robert Cormier's The Chocolate War! Fitting, as Neal Shusterman is near the top of a short list of YA authors I consider in Cormier's league, the others being Avi and Gary Paulsen.

"Sometimes people see you the way they want to see you...no matter how hard you try to change it. It's like they'd rather twist the whole world just so they can keep seeing you the same lousy way."

"But anger and hatred and resentment—those feelings are as slippery as a greased pig: hard to handle, and even harder to catch when they get loose. Feelings like that don't die easily—they just move on to other people if they can't have their way with you."

After a long period, multiple years, with this book on the back burner, I'm going to try to get back into it now as Halloween nears. Go Neal Shusterman!
