Finally gotten to the part of the book that coincides with products and services that I was familiar with growing up. Incredible insight into how crucial Pixar was for keeping Disney from the brink of virtual collapse, the total digital music revolution through iTunes, cyclical business strategy using iPod to boost Mac sales, etc. Jobs was still terrible, just not as heavy handed with humiliation tactics.

This books provides the most mind blowing perspective. Steve Jobs is represented as the deeply volatile, disturbed, genius, creative that he was. All of his characteristics, good and bad, are told incredibly well creating a complex and dynamic narrative. I’m deeply disturbed by his callousness and unable to overlook his brilliance. Phenomenal book so far.

What really strikes me is how much the modern narrative has erased Jobs’ passion for art. At the midst of another technological revolution, there is a brazen, overwhelming, and distorted focus on technical ability above all else. Yet, much of Jobs’ life was devoted to appreciating, learning, and studying music, design, and philosophy. However controversial he was there is a valuable, overlooked lesson here.
