Ah, the atmosphere of the Titanic. The grand staircase and all its adjoining rooms feel to me almost as familiar as my home. Who better than Richard Peck to craft the pretty words required to do it justice?

The aristocratic airs of the wealthy characters in this book are a perfect fit for Richard Peck's natural foppish style. I'm going to like the smoothness of this story as it goes down the hatch.

The cover artist doesn't appear to be credited in this edition. Amanda/Miranda is an unusual case; originally a much longer novel for adults that Richard Peck released in 1980, it was heavily modified when his YA/middle-grade popularity grew, and became this slimmed down, age appropriate version of the book. Let's see what Mr. Peck has for us.
