Let's go downtown with our father and shop. Maybe that will take our mind off being banned from playing with the neighbor kids.

I never liked this ending. Mandated altruism is not altruism. It helps explain why MLKJ had a muddled concept of economics.

Life isn't all drama as MLKJ. Let's take a break from the angst and go play down at the fire station.

Let's take a side route out of the story, stepping down early as leader of the bus boycotts.

Time for the other story route, now. We'll dream we were MLK as a boy growing up in the world before civil rights equality.

If only we could all drink from the same fountains, without the powerful exploiting our differences to line their own pockets and make themselves feel important.

I'm not sleeping in the darkened Chimney Rock. Let's go!

We never reach our cousins in this book, so let's change it up and go to the amusement park instead. We won't have to board a bus to travel there.

If people don't insist on change, government will never grant more freedom. MLKJ knew that, for sure.

This time we'll do as ordered and vacate our seats to stand in the back of the bus.
