Hi Sarah, thanks for your post! Actually...in my fourth novel with Bethany House, Far Side of the Sea, (spring 2019) Marcus plays an important role. I'm working up some new ideas right now, and if I have my way, he will get his own story!

LOL! Purely coincidence, Whitney, but then again...maybe it was subconscious?? I read Outlander many years ago, and will admit to LOVING Scottish heroes best, especially those Highlanders! Some of my favorites are characters from authors Diana Gabaldon, Julie Garwood, Tanya Anne Crosby, Arnette Lamb and a few others. I'm so glad you had a great mental picture of Simon throughout the story. :-) Blessings!

If you mean inspired to write a particular storyline, I usually find it through my historical research. As for day-to-day sitting down at the computer, I'll often play background music themed to the historical period I'm writing about. I'll also review the last few pages I wrote the day before to get my head back into the story.

Hi Rachel, thanks for your post! I apologize for getting back with you so late, but the good news is that my next novel, High As The Heavens, is about to hit the shelves so you'll be able to see for yourself. :-) It's another WWI romance, this time set in German-occupied Brussels and one of the most challenging stories I've written to date. There's a connecting character to Not By Sight and quite a bit more intrigue and danger. I have a few surprises in store for readers too, so I hope you'll enjoy the story!

Hi Catarina, this reply comes extremely late, but my appreciation is heartfelt! An epilogue is a great idea, and perhaps someday I'll write one. In the meantime, feel free to imagine one of your own for them. :-) Thanks so much for your encouragement and support!

With my third novel, High As The Heavens, ready to launch in June 2017, I'm working another story set in Europe during WWI with connecting characters to Not By Sight (and I'm not telling who!) Currently it's scheduled for publication spring of 2019.

My advice: Hone your craft. Attend workshops and webinars on writing. Find a critique group or reader friends you trust to help "sound out" the quality/content of your writing. If writing is your passion and you feel God has called you to this purpose, then never, never, never give up! I've been writing 25 years and sold my first novel five years ago. I have a mountain of rejection letters to prove I've made progress through those years. I've come to realize that while craft can be learned, persistence comes from the heart, and with today's book industry, it's the ultimate key to success.

I've always been a daydreamer, so my favorite part is after long months of work, being able to see those dreams in a completed novel. I love stories--writing them, reading them, and watching them as screenplays. I also get to "be" in my stories as I write them. :-) What could be more fun?

I've been buried in WWI research over the past year, so I'm excited to finally be able to catch up on these scrumptious reads! So far, I have 5 on my list (alphabetically by author):
Connilyn Cossette's "Counted With The Stars"
Rachel McMillan's "The Bachelor Girl's Guide to Murder"
Sarah Monzon's "Finders Keepers"
Cheryl Reavis's "Band of Brothers" (general romance)
Elaine Stock's "Always With You"
Happy reading!

Being an avid romance reader, I have so many! Jane Austen's works are particular favorites of mine, and aside from the obvious P & P, I have a real fondness for Miss Anne Elliot and Captain Frederick Wentworth in the JA novel, Persuasion. I love a timeless fairytale, and Anne, a 27-year-old spinster and daughter of a vain baronet living in Bath is the quintessential Cinderella; the man she pines for, Captain Wentworth, could easily be Prince Charming, a hero any woman would swoon over. And while circumstances might keep them apart, Miss Austen always delivers a satisfactory ending. :-)

Hi Christy, thanks for the post! I will have another historical novel set during WWI next year. Scheduled release is summer of 2017.

Writer's block doesn't happen often, thankfully, but I do run into "plot knots," when I'm not sure how the story should proceed. I find taking long walks in my quiet, wooded neighborhood helps to grease the mental wheel, so I'm able to come up with ideas to save my characters from their demise due to bad writing. :)

Ashley, thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed reading For Such A Time. It was a very special story for me to write. I don't have another WWII book in the works presently, but perhaps in the future. My next novel, NOT BY SIGHT, releases August 4, 2015. It's a historical romance set in Britain during WWI. Hope you will enjoy it as well. Many blessings! Kate

I got the idea for my newest release, High As The Heavens, from researching WWI espionage. Let me tell you, truth is stranger than fiction! There were so many remarkable people, including women, who worked undercover to aid the Allies behind enemy lines. Many were imprisoned and shot by as spies. With so much intrigue and danger, and my adding in a few twists and turns, I hope readers will enjoy Eve and Simon's story!
