Jason R. Hemmings I came up with the idea for Fabier Investigations back in 2003. The original draft of the story was much more hard boiled than the version it became. I abandoned the idea, unsure of the characters and storyline for the first book, only writing about three chapters. The original title for the book was Jaded. Then in 2015, I wrote Touch Of Honey in Your Kiss. This book developed into Desire For Diamonds, which actually became the first published Fabier book. Oddly enough it is the 6th book in the series. I then went back to book 1 and wrote After The Rain which published in December 2015. I struggled for ages creating the characters like Giovanni, Aaron and Rachael. I wanted Fabier to have everything money could buy, but still long for one thing money could not buy; the return of his late wife and true love, Kate. It gave a lonely, bittersweet edge throughout the books readers seem to love. Giovanni serves as a great mentor to Alex, Aaron is a true friend and Rachael gives Alex endless hope to continue with his life. The chateau Alex grew up at is from my love of champagne. The majestic setting gave grandeur to his background, despite Alex being rather humble. I chose the house and office in Miami to be somewhere glamorous to set the books, from my love of Florida, but the cottage in the Bahamas shows the real Fabier, his vulnerability and reminiscence for times gone when he was with Kate. I wanted lavish locations, so I set the stories across the world. The stories come from combinations of old TV shows, movies, books and my own ideas to create something original and intriguing. I chose to write Fabier in the first person, as kind of a voice over, to give the reader more depth of emotion and feeling, in a way the voice of a friend through Alex Fabier. The first six books are now part of a collection, but no doubt others may follow.
Jason R. Hemmings I grew up liking old Sci-Fi movies and books, so I wanted to add my own to the collection. I wrote Teardrop From The Past, due to the decline of society and lack of preservation for our natural world. It is disgraceful what mankind has done to the planet over the last century. So I wrote Teardrop as a Utopian theme, with the demise of the Earth and the perfection of Nouveaux to show the contrasts of old Earth verses the most likely version of the planet in 2197. It was my attempt to hopefully educate people by showing where our lives will probably lead to if the current path remains unchanged. The book is written with enlightening perspectives to suggest that we still have time to be nice to one another and look after our beautiful world call Earth. The irony of the book is that what the Council of Light seek on Nouveaux, already existed on Earth once. I hoped everyone who read the story might learn something before it is too late. The book was challenging to write. It is one of my favourite books.
Jason R. Hemmings A True Love of Time, was an idea I came up years ago, but only wrote recently. I wanted to do a book featuring time travel. When most people fall in love they tend to be about the same age, however I wanted to show that love is ageless, so I had someone who was old fall in love with someone who was young, then used the time travel to allow them to travel through time together at the same age. I based the story so that the younger character was given the opportunity to spend time through the highlights of Anna's life; the piano teacher and older character. I wanted the story to be set in dreamy locations, in the first half of the 20th century and to have the characters growing old together, with the younger character being enlightened along the journey. I liked adding the surreal elements to the book such as Ella, Anna's mother who appear's as a ghost at times and the whole story set somewhere between Heaven and Earth, in a dream world. The book combined a number of my short stories.

Whispers Of Wisteria, came from an idea from an old 1940s movie I loved, a short story I wrote called Sweet September and a very special home my wife and I owned once many years ago in our old home town, I regret leaving to this day. Everyone in life has regrets, so I based the story on the ultimate regret, losing someone you love. The main character blamed themselves for the loss of their true love, so I had them return to their old home town, to rekindle their lost romance through a number of ghostly appearances by Wisteria. I found a lovely town called Williamsburg, in Virginia to set the story and a beautiful cottage, the couple were planning to buy as their home before the fateful day of May 6th 1922. I thought it was a nice idea to have the chance to repair a mistake, which does not often happen in life and show the austere, saddened main character come back to life as they realise the perfect life and love they already had once.
Jason R. Hemmings Ray Bradbury was probably my favourite author. For me, he was a literary artist; he painted with words. He was my inspiration to write.

I have always been creative, so I suppose writing is my way to express it. My ideas come from travel, moments, people, movies and books. I try to make my stories both entertaining and enlightening.
Jason R. Hemmings I believe you should read all types of genres and authors, then decide whether you want to follow one in particular or a range of them.

Develop a style that expresses your personality. Try not to be too influenced by trends necessarily. Be your own writer; be individual.

Writing needs a good melody; its storyline. Make sure you refine it with enough detail, characters with depth and appeal, put in some philosophy and meaning to the stories and try to excel with your writing. Most of all, take your time. Once the story is published it may be there for a long time, so make it as perfect as you can get it.
Jason R. Hemmings The creative side of me gets to be expressed in my books. It's wonderful to make up these characters and storylines especially when it is something you can't do, like time travel.

I think writing a beautiful line in your books still impresses me greatly. When you read it back to yourself and say, 'That's a beautiful way to say something,' you feel a great sense of accomplishment.

I like to capture the beauty in the world through my writing, be it the best of the human spirit or places in the world. I try to show perspectives and always blend notes of hope through my stories. I guess I am old fashioned, because I still believe in happy endings and fulfilling dreams. My writing is one of mine.
Jason R. Hemmings Thankfully it's something I don't have very often. But sometimes if I am stuck with a chapter or section of writing, I play jazz music to sooth me. I find it helps to inspire the words; other times peace and quiet seems to work.
