David C. Cassidy Where do I start? When can I go?

While I would probably be scared out of my mind, LOL, I would find it exhilarating to be transported to the world of Dracula to hunt him down. That would be cool.

I'd also be thrilled to enter the world of Sherlock Holmes and solve a great English mystery. I 'd even wear the hat and smoke the pipe. Okay, maybe pretend to smoke the pipe. (Not a smoker.) :)

Lastly, if I could, I'd transport into the future to the Star Trek universe. Zipping around the galaxy in a starship is just way too cool.
David C. Cassidy Well, at the risk of sounding more than a little nuts, I once lived in a home that continually had strange noises late at night. One time, I was working very late, and suddenly I heard a rustling sound down the hallway towards my kitchen. It wasn't a subtle sound, it was real. I got up, went down the hall, and found several papers scattered on the floor. These papers had been staked neatly on my dining room table. I was the only one in the house at the time. Needless to say, I was more than a tad freaked out. :)
David C. Cassidy Great question. I wouldn't claim that my answer constitutes a "couple," per se, but for me, Holmes and Watson are my choice as my favorite fictional duo. Holmes is cold and logical, the (mostly) unemotional side of all of us, a great complement to the more human, vulnerable side played by Watson. Together they make for a fascinating examination of both sides of the human coin. It's our duality that makes each of us who we are, and these two express it beautifully in fiction.
David C. Cassidy I get away from writing if the need strikes. For me, I'm not a writer who writes every day or follows a writing schedule. I write when I write. If it's not working, why push it? I have so many other creative outlets (photography, graphic design) that it helps me to *not* focus on writing, while my subconscious focuses on it. I come back to it when the brain says "Now," and not a moment before. I think the key is to recognize when it's not the time to pound the keyboard and let the words and ideas come when they decide to. They're not going to come if they're not ready.
David C. Cassidy I can write people I don't like into my books--and write them right out again in a variety of nasty ways. But seriously, it's a high for me. I love to bring what my crazy brain sees to the page. My stories often feel like you're watching a movie, simply because I see scenes in my head like a movie. In the end, it's Just. Plain. Fun. :)
David C. Cassidy Best advice--finish that first draft. Hell or high water.
David C. Cassidy "Gateway" is my next novel. It's about a man who possesses an unusual and ultimately dangerous power--a power he cannot control.
David C. Cassidy I'm a creative person--photography, writing, graphic design--it's all inspiring to me. The very act of doing these things gives me a high. I'm very visual, in words and images, and I'm always drawn to find the essence of something, whether I'm writing about it or photographing it. If I didn't create, I'd probably wither like an old leaf in autumn.
David C. Cassidy The Dark was inspired by a dream I had had many years ago. I remember waking up in a sweat, feeling this overwhelming sense of dread coming from the closet. I was in kind of a semi-lucid state, and I remember sitting up and pointing to the closet ... and then I shouted, "Get OUT!" several times at whatever I felt was lurking beyond the door. True story.
