J. Thomas Rompel has lived in Tucson, Arizona since 1964 and understands the threats and dangers in having a porous border. He attended the University of Arizona majoring in Speech and Communication in the College of Fine Arts. J. Thomas Rompel has owned and operated a number of different companies since the mid 1970’s. After the events of 9/11 he was involved in a business that dealt with U.S. military and law enforcement both at the local and federal level. This also included Border Patrol agents in the Tucson Sector. As a direct result of regular contact with the above over time he observed a growing trend of the United States federal government failing in their duty to protect the citizens against enemies both foreign and domestic.

Because of this I find it easy to come up with a believable story and believable characters. In the process of blending true events with the characters of real people from time to time I have to remind myself it's all made up; I write thrillers and it's fiction. When I remember this I find myself just writing and letting the characters take me where they want to go.

An additional buffer to writer's block is for me to keep in mind when I'm down-loading the story from my head to the keyboard, it's a draft. If something needs to get straightened out it will happen in the editing process.

“The Founding Fathers never intended it to be this way. They didn’t create the Second Amendment for hunting – they created it for citizens of this country to deal with the kind of crap we now have in Washington.”
J. Thomas Rompel, The 4th Branch

“He was furious he couldn’t count on his own government to secure the border and keep Americans safe.”
J. Thomas Rompel, The 4th Branch

“However, I suggest to you there’s an unspoken fourth branch, and it’s not part of the government, it’s you the people. I say this because it’s your government for better or for worse. In other words, you own the government; it’s not the other way around. Everyone in the government works for you, not the other way around.”
J. Thomas Rompel, The 4th Branch
