L.S. Young has been creating historical love stories in her head ever since she read Anne of Green Gables and Little Women at age eight. Before she became a writer, she spent time as a teacher and childcare worker.

Her books feature complex female relationships, LGBTQ characters/romances, and captivating settings that will appeal to nature lovers.

Young grew up in the countryside of north Florida, and now lives near Disney with her husband and daughter. She enjoys gardening, spying on sandhill cranes, wandering through thrift shops, and avoiding alligators.

L.S. Young is currently not accepting new questions.

I was very close to my mom's side of the family and her mom growing up, but I was thinking the other day about how I don't know my paternal grandmother at all even though I received just as much from her genetically. I look a lot like photos I've seen of her, and yet she's a total mystery to me. I don't even know her cultural background. An aunt told me once that she might've been Irish. She and my mom didn't get along and she died when I was twelve. A search to find identity through a lost relative might be cliché but it seems like it would make an interesting story.

There was some mystery and dark desire in it that I wanted to explore. I also wanted to write a boardinghouse romance with two leads who were polar opposites, so it worked out well. The tension between my hero and heroine was in my mind very early on. I also read Naomi Novik's Uprooted before starting this novel, and the prickly, dark-eyed Sarkan had some influence on my hero, Jake. (less)

Queering Him by Katherine Wela Bogen
"Queering Him is a complicated book. I think it’s important for incoming readers to understand that it’s not a contemporary romance in the sense that characters fall in love, face some hardship, and then overcome that to move forward together in love." Read more of this review »
