I remember telling my husband about 30 years ago that if the drug problem continued, it was going to be the destruction of the family system. No, I didn't have a crystal ball that let me see into the future; I had a child that was making the wrong decisions. Since that time, the problem has multiplied I don't know by how much. And yes, families have been destroyed. Thank goodness mine wasn't, but many were. That's what "Envelopes of Hope" is about--hope and family support.

The reader accompanies Amanda as she becomes more and more involved with drugs and the lifestyle that may come with it. Although months may pass, and even years, when they don't hear from her, Amanda's parents never give up hope that she will change her life around. And they do whatever they can to help her.

"Envelopes of Hope" is for anyone who is dealing with one of life's difficult situations, whether it is drugs or anything else. I hope you read it, and that Amanda's journey helps you with whatever your journey may be.

When I started to write "Envelopes of Hope," I wasn't quite sure where I was going with it. After many years of giving up hope that a daughter of mine would never get her life together, she sent me a letter that said, "Thank you for not giving up on me." And that was the inspiration of the story.

The story of Amanda is not an unusual one. I think we tend to forget that when a person has a substance abuse issue, those around them are affected as much as the person who is using the drugs. The family system is broken and each member becomes involved. In "Envelopes of Hope," Amanda's parents never give up hope that she will get her life together.

"Envelopes of Hope" is meant to give inspiration and hope to those who are struggling with issues that may be preventing them from moving on to a better life, whether it is because of drugs or any other obstacle that is in their way.

While many parents and other family members become weary of the person with the problem, some don't give up hope that they will turn their life around. This novelette is meant to inspire people and give them hope that there is ----hope. It is geared to any problem, not just drugs. My first book, "Envelopes of Hope," was inspired by my daughter after she conquered her 35 year battle with drugs. When she finally entered rehab, she wrote a letter thanking me for not giving up on her. This inspired the book. The book is fiction and meant to give hope and inspiration to those who are caught up in the darkness of substance abuse--and to their families who stand by them with support and love.

Looking through the book, I laugh at how my formatting improved with my next books.
