Drug Epidemic

I remember telling my husband about 30 years ago that if the drug problem continued, it was going to be the destruction of the family system. No, I didn't have a crystal ball that let me see into the future; I had a child that was making the wrong decisions. Since that time, the problem has multiplied I don't know by how much. And yes, families have been destroyed. Thank goodness mine wasn't, but many were. That's what "Envelopes of Hope" is about--hope and family support.

The reader accompanies Amanda as she becomes more and more involved with drugs and the lifestyle that may come with it. Although months may pass, and even years, when they don't hear from her, Amanda's parents never give up hope that she will change her life around. And they do whatever they can to help her.

"Envelopes of Hope" is for anyone who is dealing with one of life's difficult situations, whether it is drugs or anything else. I hope you read it, and that Amanda's journey helps you with whatever your journey may be.

Take care.

New Giveaway

When I started to write "Envelopes of Hope," I wasn't quite sure where I was going with it. After many years of giving up hope that a daughter of mine would never get her life together, she sent me a letter that said, "Thank you for not giving up on me." And that was the inspiration of the story.

The story of Amanda is not an unusual one. I think we tend to forget that when a person has a substance abuse issue, those around them are affected as much as the person who is using the drugs. The family system is broken and each member becomes involved. In "Envelopes of Hope," Amanda's parents never give up hope that she will get her life together.

"Envelopes of Hope" is meant to give inspiration and hope to those who are struggling with issues that may be preventing them from moving on to a better life, whether it is because of drugs or any other obstacle that is in their way.

My new giveaway starts tomorrow. Enter to win one of ten copies of "Envelopes of Hope." Also available on Amazon in paperback and ebook formats.I'm looking forward to your comments.

Take care.

A Personal Connection

In case you missed my previous giveaways, "Envelopes of Hope" is my first novelette and a new giveaway is running now. Inspired by a family member, it is the story of a young girl and how she fell into the darkness of substance abuse. As she struggles through the years, her family tirelessly tries to help her escape the life she has chosen.
With the epidemic of drugs that we are facing today, the story of this family is meant to bring hope and inspiration to those involved in a crisis situation, whether it is drugs or something else that is threatening their family. I hope that I have achieved my goal.

The Drug Epidemic

Have you ever known anyone who has become involved in the sordid world of drugs? We all know that we are in the midst of an epidemic of opiate abuse. But have you ever known anyone personally? I have and that's why I wrote "Envelopes of Hope." Amanda's story, and that of her family, is similar to what many people go through. While many parents and other family members become weary of the person with the problem, some don't give up hope that they will turn their life around. This novelette is meant to inspire people and give them hope that there is ----hope. It is geared to any problem, not just drugs. So, if you are experiencing or have experienced a family member or friend who has gone through any type of difficulty, you will be inspired by Amanda's story not to give up hope. And share it with those who may be struggling with a problem.
The giveaway for "Envelopes of Hope" ends in a few weeks. It is also available on Amazon in e-book and paperback formats.

Free Book

Hi--If you haven't read my first book, "Envelopes of Hope," let me tell you a little about it. The story was inspired by a family member who had a drug problem for many years. When she was determined to change her life, she thanked me for not giving up on her. That was the inspiration for the story.

As we all know, we have a crisis in this country involving drugs. I wrote this story with the intention of giving hope to those trying to change their lives and to the families that support them. I hope you enjoy it and tell your friends.

The kindle edition of the novelette will be available free on Amazon for the next few days, starting Tuesday, July 24th. Please take advantage of the promotion and tell your friends. I look forward to your thoughts about the story. And, if you would like a free bookmark that complements the book, let me know where to send it.

Take care.

FREE BOOK

My first book, "Envelopes of Hope," was inspired by my daughter after she conquered her 35 year battle with drugs. When she finally entered rehab, she wrote a letter thanking me for not giving up on her. This inspired the book. The book is fiction and meant to give hope and inspiration to those who are caught up in the darkness of substance abuse--and to their families who stand by them with support and love.

Looking through the book, I laugh at how my formatting improved with my next books.

Why am I posting this? Because I have ten copies that I would like to give away. If you would like a copy, my contact information is on my website. Just send me your mailing information and I'll send them to the first ten people who ask.

My books are available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle formats.

Website info: mirikalblog.com

Thanks--I hope to hear from you soon.

mental health

As a semi-retired clinical social worker, I write my books with two goals in mind--the first, to provide hope and inspiration to my readers; and the second, to provide a good story.

We all go through various things in life--love, loss, grief, disappointment. And there are issues in today's society that have an impact on all of us at some point, either directly or indirectly. They may include substance abuse, family problems, mental health issues, or a variety of others. My hope is to provide inspiration through my writing that will help readers resolve their problems--knowing that they are not alone.
