I mean, I was super imaginative back then, sort of living in my head, but it wasn't until I was 13 that I first picked up a pen. Around that time, I heard Cryoshell's 2007 song "Creeping in my Soul" (Ow, the nostalgia!) and a story just bloomed in my head. So, I worked on, completed, and trashed my first ever novel, "Soul Fighter", which was your standard teen-girl hunter fighting a world conquered by demons.(less)

Currently, I use a stream of consciousness method, where I write down on a separate document some brainstorming ideas, fears and frustrations, questions about my story and essays, and adding to the story's timeline.

But the best time-tested method has always been curl up in a ball, cry, and stuff my face with chocolate while music is blasting in my ears until an a-ha moment comes.(less)

"The authorial voice - well, the character of the narrator would be more accurate - was amusing at first, but very quickly became obnoxious and irritating beyond belief. What, at first, seemed like charming quirks and clever nods at genre conventions " Read more of this review »

Well, I had decided to give this another go after DNF'ing it because there was something charming about it from my first read, even if I had found it pretty dull the first time. After this new attempt, I can say that although it wasn't an incredible ...more

“But I don't want to lose my guts answered Pumpkin ”
Jodi Lynn Anderson, May Bird and the Ever After

“The liberal idea of tolerance is more and more a kind of intolerance. What it means is 'Leave me alone; don't harass me; I'm intolerant towards your over-proximity.”
Slavoj Žižek

“If your flirting strategy is indistinguishable from harassment, it's not everyone else that's the problem.”
John Scalzi

“When a stranger on the street makes a sexual comment, he is making a private assessment of me public. And though I’ve never been seriously worried that I would be attacked, it does make me feel unguarded, unprotected.

Regardless of his motive, the stranger on the street makes an assumption based on my physique: He presumes I might be receptive to his unpoetic, unsolicited comments. (Would he allow a friend to say “Nice tits” to his mother? His sister? His daughter?) And although I should know better, I, too, equate my body with my soul and the result, at least sometimes, is a deep shame of both.

Rape is a thousand times worse: The ultimate theft of self-control, it often leads to a breakdown in the victim’s sense of self-worth. Girls who are molested, for instance, often go on to engage in risky behavior—having intercourse at an early age, not using contraception, smoking, drinking, and doing drugs. This behavior, it seems to me, is at least in part because their self-perception as autonomous, worthy human beings in control of their environment has been taken from them.”
