I was born in Ireland and after graduating in engineering and business I decided that I wanted to see the world. With Shell International Petroeum and the National Iranian Oil Company I worked in England, Holland and Iran. As an international diplomat I lived in Belgium, Malta, Kenya and Zambia. I had the great good fortune to have a career which fulfilled all my travel desires. Since retiring in 2011, I have been living on the West Coast of Ireland and I've been writing full time. I have no idea why I made her a lesbian, I think it was because I wanted her to have a traumatic background and I didn't want to write about family life. I'm a pantser so half the time I have no idea where characters and story are going. I may not have answered your question but the process is organic. (less)

No question just a comment (with obligatory question mark)? Started back on the Wilson series recently after a couple of year's hiatus from reading the first five or six. Really enjoying them. Thank you, you are a really good writer and I hope you're making decent money from the Wilson series.

Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the books. I'm a little embarrassed about the making decent money. I don't think there are many authors making 'decent' money these days. The market is flooded. In 2019, my revenue was $17,000 and my cost of production (editing and covers) was $5,000. I spent $3,000 on Facebook adds. You can do the calculation yourself. I may not be typical of all authors but those are my figures I promise you.(less)

Marketing self published books

I'm new to Goodreads so I'll just have to wing it as far as posts are concerned. Just last year I self published my novel Nothing But Memories. I had already published several non-fiction titles with major publishers so I had very little experience of marketing. I'd left that to the publishers in the past.
