Zach MacDonald was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada. He has lived abroad extensively, working in Japan, South Korea and Thailand.

He is the author of the novel Itsuki and numerous short stories. His work has appeared in Fatal Flaw Literary Magazine, the Asia Literary Review, Prose Online, Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, Prometheus Dreaming, and other publications. His novella, “The Year of the Cassowary” (now “The Time of the Cassowary”) received Honorable Mention in Glimmer Train’s 2019 Fiction Open.

An avid traveler and lifelong learner, with interests ranging from culture to consciousness to the cosmos, his fiction often treads in spaces between the known and the unknown, inner and outer worlds, and the spiritual and the worldly.
